Health & Wellbeing Support

The founders of MYB co-authored international award-winning research in collaboration with Durham University into the impact of business ownership on the health and well-being of business owners.

Delivered by Mind Your Business (MYB)

The founders of MYB co-authored international award-winning research in collaboration with Durham University into the impact of business ownership on the health and well-being of business owners. They understand that a significant number of business ventures do not succeed due to the impact of the venture on the owner, and those engaged in entrepreneurial activity were 30% more likely to experience depression.

The MYB support is designed to help business owners look after their own health and well-being and that of the business so they can continue operating in a safe, healthy, and legally compliant manner. It reduces sick leave and absence while preventing the detrimental impact of presenteeism.

A healthy business owner generally leads to a healthy business, with greater productivity and growth and fewer costs linked to ill health. At MYB, we acknowledge that, in most cases, the business owner and business are actually one and the same thing.

The programme also seeks to realign business owners with their goals and values and encourages them, through resilience and confidence-building, to re-engage with the business venture and embrace growth.

About the programme

The delivery method will be through a series of sessions (in person) over a period of weeks through a blend of lectures, group discussions and self-reflective activities.

The group sessions include:

Self-awareness, Resourcing, Targets & KPIs, Resilience Building and Problem-solving.

There is also a one-to-one session at the end of the programme to allow business owners to focus on areas specific to their business and themselves. Pre and post-programme baseline measurements will also be conducted to assess the programme's impact on business owners. This will be done using existing and new innovative tools designed especially for entrepreneurs and business owners. In addition to evaluating the programme's success, a mechanism will be used to provide feedback from attendees on the programme's delivery to support the service's overall delivery assurance.
